One of the blessings of working with March On! has been the opportunity to meet many of the Civil Rights movement icons and their descendants – people living real lives of grit, vision, sacrifice, and endurance.

For centuries, Cuba has aroused the covetous interests of those who want to control it. Spain established its first settlement in 1511. In 1899 the US began its political and economic influence until Fidel Castro’s army marched into Havana in 1959.  Since then, Cuba has intrigued, vexed and taunted the world with its beauty, cultural richness and defiant spirit.

Kahlil Joseph is the film’s director. He is also the visionary behind the visuals in Beyoncé’s Lemonade and Kendrick Lamar’s good kid mAAd city videos, and founder of the Underground Museum in Los Angeles.
