Meet The Director:Juliette Jeffers is an award-winning Kittitian/Nevisian-American actor, writer, director, producer, and teaching artist whose work spans theatre, television and film. She has appeared in more than twenty films, forty television shows, sixty national commercials and has written and performed five solo plays. Juliette can currently be seen as a recurring guest star on The Residence (Netflix) and Tulsa King (Paramount+).
As a theatre director, Juliette has helmed over thirty solo shows, including seventeen during her tenure as Curator of the Black Voices Solo Theatre Festival at the Whitefire Theatre in Los Angeles. She has also championed community storytelling through projects such as Homeward L.A., directing performances to raise awareness and support for people experiencing homelessness.
Pan Gyul marks Juliette’s film directorial debut and reflects both her artistic vision and her Caribbean heritage. Shot entirely in Nevis, it is the first film about the island to screen in international festivals. It received a nomination for Best Short at the Pan African Film Festival and a nomination for Best Screenplay at the Las Vegas Black Film Festival. It also WON two awards at the Diversity in Cannes Showcase: Best First Time Filmmaker and Best Original Song.
Juliette has been collaborating with the Nevis Film Commission to help build the island’s emerging film industry. With Pan Gyul, she introduces her voice as a filmmaker committed to telling culturally resonant, visually rich stories that amplify underrepresented voices and celebrate the complexity of the human experience.
