Rosenwald is a 2015 documentary directed by Aviva Kempner that tells the story of philanthropist Julius Rosenwald, president of Sears, and his partnership with Booker T. Washington.
The film is being presented in collaboration with the National Building Museum, the Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum, and March On! as a part of a multifaceted program exploring the remarkable partnership between Booker T. Washington, Julius Rosenwald, and thousands of local communities.
Through film, exhibition, and conversation, discover how their collaboration helped build nearly 5,000 schools across the segregated South—and why their example of shared purpose and collective action can continue inspiring us today.
Join us after the screening! Attend one of the film screenings at the Capital Jewish Museum, then head to the National Building Museum for the exhibit and moderated conversation.
