Jamal Simmons is the creator and co-host of Trailblaze: The Podcast About the America We’re Becoming — and a political commentator on CNN. Before that, he was Deputy Assistant to the President and Communications Director to Vice President Kamala Harris at the White House.
Prior to the White House, Jamal was a political contributor for CBS News and NPR and hosted digital interviews for Hill TV.
Jamal joined Hill TV from The Raben Group, where he advised corporate, political, and foundation leaders for nearly a decade. He’s been a press secretary for presidential campaigns, an opinion writer, and an entrepreneur.
He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the board of advisors for the Jackson House exhibit at The Henry Ford Museum, and an honorary board member of the Rosa Parks Scholarship Foundation.
Jamal is a graduate of Morehouse College and Harvard University’s Kennedy School and currently lives in the New York City area with his wife and their children.
