Planning to join us for March On! 2025? Here are some tips for making the most of your festival experience.
- Mark your calendar for Monday, September 15, through Sunday, September 21, 2025, so you don’t miss any of our exciting programming.
- Visit the festival website to check out our calendar of events: www.marchonfest.org/festival.
- Be sure to survey the Virtual, Live-Streamed events (if you’re not in D.C.) and In-Person events. Then click to make your reservations. Some offerings are free; others have nominal fees. So be sure to RSVP for whatever you choose.
- There are several levels of Passes so you can enjoy as much of our festival as you’d like — live, virtual, or a combination of the two.
- Here are some highlights you won’t want to miss (so RSVP early):
- Ready to settle down with a good book in a peaceful atmosphere and then engage in probing conversations with like-minded readers? The Quiet Word is for you! 9/15
- For virtual guests, check out The Road Ahead. Our esteemed panelists explore how the right to be well has long been shaped by race, power, and policy. 9/15
- The play’s the thing at Woolly Mammoth Theatre in this new production of The Great Privation. Equal parts comedy, joy, science, and history, it’s a story of our past that highlights our resilience. Come early to enjoy the powerful lobby installation with a glass of wine. Then stay for the post-show Talk Back. 9/17
- We’re partnering with PBS NOVA at Howard University Hospital for this eye-opening presentation on health disparities, treatment equity, pseudoscience, and medical myths, with clips from the documentary Critical Condition: Health in Black America. 9/18
- An afternoon of programming begins with an Intro to American Sign Language; then a panel on Disability, Health & Justice; and our version of hospital grand rounds, Grown Folks Talk, where we will discuss key issues in men’s and women’s health. 9/19
- Take a ride down Albany Road, a film about a family working through miscommunications and secrets, trying to find their way to love, honesty, and understanding. Then join us for an insightful and interactive Town Hall on Truth and Relationships right after the movie. 9/19
- It’s a full day of events: screenings of the finalists’ films in our Student and Emerging Filmmaker Competition; then a special presentation by Rest Is Resistance author Tricia Hersey; followed by our biennial Vivian Malone Courage Award bestowed on journalist/activist Joy-Ann Reid and In Conversation with the Honorable Eric Holder, 82nd U.S. Attorney General. 9/20
- We close with our Dark Tower Day Party that harkens back to the glory days of Harlem Renaissance salons with A’Lelia Bundles and her new book about her great-great-grandmother and namesake, A’Lelia Walker: Joy Goddess; a scholarly walk through a century of our musical history with Dr. Msia Clark and DJ R WE ON THE AIR?!; performances by acrobat aerialist Chi Akano; and refreshing libations and culinary delights! 9/21
Plus: Sunrise Yoga sessions, literature tables by Mahogany Books, and mobile health screenings.
